The
Hidden Garden Steps project is a volunteer-driven, community-based effort to create and maintain the second set of ceramic-tiled steps and public
gardens in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset district, while strengthening the existing sense of community in the neighborhood.
The original 16th Avenue Tiled Steps are two very long blocks south of the Hidden Garden Steps, located on Moraga Street, between 15th and 16th Avenues. This project was completed in 2013, under the auspices of the San Francisco Parks Alliance and the San Francisco Department of Public Works Street Parks Program, and remains a Street Parks Project.
Friends of the Hidden Garden Steps is the informal group of volunteers who are committed to maintaining the Steps and their adjacent gardens.
Volunteers generally meet for clean-up and planting days on the second Saturday of each month from 1PM to 3PM, weather permitting.
